5 Ways to Save Money on Your Next Party

One of the biggest things that deter people from entertaining is the cost. There’s no doubt that between the food, drinks, cake, decorations and favors, the cost to host a pin worthy celebration can be high. But, it doesn’t have to be. Here are five ways you can save big bucks on your next party.

  1. Use decor you already have at home. In each of our planning guides I detail an entertaining tool kit. These are items that can be used time and time again, no matter the holiday or party theme. Utilizing items you already have at home will help keep the overall costs down. You can get creative here too. Think throw blankets as table coverings, mason jars as vases and landscape greenery for centerpieces.

  2. Give items multiple purposes. Like in our pizza party guide, displaying the food in an artful way allows it to double as decor. For this party specifically, we laid toppings on butcher paper and let the beautiful colors of the food serve as the centerpiece.

  3. Opt for a simple cake. Just because you purchase a cake with plain white frosting doesn’t mean it has to be boring. A simple round or sheet cakes with white icing is going to be less expensive than it’s professionally decorated counterpart and equally as delicious. When you get home, add your topper, fresh flowers, berries or even sprinkles to make it festive.

  4. Skip the themed paper plates. You might be calling me crazy in your head but paper plates with say dinosaurs on them often come in smaller packs and cost more money. Plus, at the end of the day they just end up in the trash. Opt for a plain white option or invest in a non-breakable melamine that’s dishwasher safe and can be used again and again.

  5. Don’t go overboard. Sometimes this is easier said than done. When you spend hours scrolling Pinterest for inspiration, it’s easy to think you need all the things to make your party a hit. Truth be told, a few key pieces styled correctly will create the same impact at a fraction of the cost. Don’t believe me? The decor featured in each of our party guides will only cost you between $150 - $200 for a party of 12!
