Entertaining with Ease

What the heck does that even mean? To most of you, this is a total contradiction. When I say entertaining, likely one of the following thoughts goes through your head…

  • Heck no.

  • Not a chance.

  • Do I look crazy to you?

  • Where would I ever find the time to plan something?

  • Have you seen the hot mess that is my house?

This list could go on and on but for the sake of time, I’ll stop here. Frankly, entertaining is anything but easy. With kids running around the house and a jam packed schedule, finding the time to plan a get together is challenging.

But, what if I told you that it could be simple? What if I told you that you could maintain that crazy schedule you have and actually enjoy hosting celebrations at the same time? I never really believed it either but then something happened.

I’ve been a professional wedding and event planner since the day I graduated from college. Over the years, I’ve planned everything from extravagant weddings to fundraising galas to intimate dinner parties. No matter the event, I always shared five pieces of advice with my client. These tips were meant to ease the stress they would inevitably feel in the midst of all the chaos.

But, when it came to hosting personal celebrations at home like my sister’s baby shower, a birthday party for my husband or Thanksgiving dinner, I completely shut down. It was like those little tidbits of advice didn't even exist and I’d turn into the biggest stress ball.

When I finally started listening to my own advice, entertaining became enjoyable. Now, I’m the first to offer to host a celebration and have this entertaining thing down to a science. These five principles are what helped me plan countless celebrations at home and even allowed me to spend less than 30 minutes in the kitchen on Thanksgiving day (yes you read that right.)

Find out what these five principles are now.
